Radhuspladsen: Copenhagen City Hall Square

Radhuspladsen (City Hall Square) is one of the main squares in Copenhagen (probably the most important square together with Kongens Nytorv). Radhuspladsen is located at the end of Stroget shopping street and next to Tivoli Amusement Park. Streets around Radhuspladsen include Vesterbrogade, H. C. Andersens Blvd, Vester Voldgade, and Vestergade. The main feature of Radhuspladsen, as the square’s name suggests, is RadhusetCopenhagen City Hall. On the Tivoli side of the City Hall there is the statue of Hans Christian Andersen.

There are many hotels near Radhuspladsen. Streets with hotels are especially Vester Voldgade, Vesterbrogade, and H. C. Andersens Boulevard. Surprisingly, you won’t find many hotels directly on Stroget (that street is almost entirely reserved for shops and restaurants). Most hotels around Radhuspladsen have 2 to 4 stars. One 5 star hotel close to Radhuspladsen is Radisson Blu Royal Hotel (also known as SAS Hotel) in a landmark high-rise building at the corner of Vesterbrogade and Hammerichsgade.
